Welcome to Kings Crown! We would like to share a little bit about us.
Rick Jones, Board President
On behalf of the other Board members, I would like to personally welcome you to our website. Sanibel and Kings Crown are rich and vibrant communities and our goal is to allow you to experience this virtually through our website. While pictures and text can only go so far, we do hope we are able to convey a sense of warmth and friendliness to all that visit our site. In that spirit, we have tried to craft content that appeals to all.
For those visitors that have never visited the island and Kings Crown, we have created content that describes the beauty of the island, the great things to do, and some of the best places to eat, shop, and relax on Sanibel.
For those return visitors to the island, we have captured pictures of people enjoying their past island experiences, allowing them to relive their own memories and to think about returning again so they can build some new ones.
For our owners, we have created an owners page where we can share information on our financials, previous meetings, and other helpful information that our owners can use.
Whether you have never been to the island previously, you have visited us before, or you are an owner, I hope you enjoy your virtual visit with us. We are glad you are here.
Sincerely,
Rick

Nick Ong, Vice President
Nick and his wife, Jane, have been owners of Unit 103 since 1996. Jane visited the island in 1984 and fell in love with everything about it. They came back in 1986 on a family vacation and have been back every year since!
They both enjoy time on the beach, watching the activities on the gulf and looking for shells. Nick is a daily walker and enjoys the bike paths and walking trails.
Nick and Jane are Florida residents but still have a home in Ankeny, Iowa that they visit for the summers where their oldest son and wife live with their 3 children. Their younger son and wife live in Polk City, Iowa with their 2 sons.
Nick can be contacted at nlo2721@gmail.com or (641) 430-1127.
Mary Lou McCormick, Secretary
Mary Lou and her husband, Walter, have been coming to Sanibel and Kings Crown with their children for nearly 30 years. Attracted to the beach, turquoise waters, welcoming ambience of Kings Crown, sunsets, and all things Sanibel, they bought the very same unit they previously had rented for many years. They had found their island paradise!
With so many fun activities to pursue on Sanibel, some of their favorites include kayaking, biking, shelling, walking along the beach, watching the fantastic sunsets right from the Kings Crown beach, fishing, making use of the well-equipped Sanibel recreation center, shopping, and dining at many of the delicious local restaurants.
Another big draw to the island for them is the city’s commitment to conservation and protection of the environment, as well as the wildlife. They enjoy learning about these efforts through the various ongoing programs available to adults and children.
Mary Lou and Walter live in Alexandria, VA., across the river from the nation’s capital city of Washington, DC. As a new board member, Mary Lou looks forward to continuing the great and tireless work of the board to ensure Kings Crown remains a premier destination on the island, and a community where all feel welcome.
Sarah Pilcher, Treasurer
Sarah and her husband Stephen purchased Unit 117 in April 2022. Sarah’s family have vacationed in Sanibel since the 1980s and her parents owned at Kings Crown from 1999-2010. Little did they know that when Sarah brought Stephen to visit her favorite beach back in the Spring of 2002, pointed in the direction of the Kings Crown 17 stack of units and said, “I want to own one of those units someday” that it would actually happen 20 years later.
Sarah and Stephen have three children. Thomas and Abby are in college and Bridget in high school. They’re sad to be wrapping up this particular parenting stage of life, but looking forward to the freedom that being empty nesters will bring and will allow more time in Sanibel in the next few years.
Being part of the board is an adventure Sarah is ready to take on. She is grateful for the many happy memories Sanibel and Kings Crown has given her and feels it's time to give back.
Cliff Cole, Director
Cliff’s family fell in love with Sanibel while on a two-week vacation in April of 1992. As luck would have it, Unit 113 came on the market at that time and they were able to purchase it before returning home to Massachusetts. They've enjoyed spending time here ever since and Kings Crown is now Cliff’s permanent residence.
An Air Force veteran who served during the Korean conflict, Cliff retired from Johnson & Johnson. He’s the proud father of two daughters and one son, and the very proud grandfather of three granddaughters! One granddaughter is graduating from Penn State in May 2025 and another attends the University of Memphis, but will be transferring in September 2025 to Michigan State. And his youngest granddaughter recently scored her first hockey goal at Glover Elementary School in Milton, MA!.
Rick Jones, President
Rick’s history with Sanibel goes all the way back to 1980, when his parents first started visiting the island and fell in love with its quiet charm. Over the years, the island became the backdrop for his family’s most significant milestones, including the moment Rick and his wife Tara got engaged right here on its shores. After many years of vacations and memories, they finally made it official in September 2020 by purchasing their condo at Kings Crown.
For the couple and their three children, Kings Crown is their ultimate home away from home. When they’re on the island, they stay busy embracing the classic Sanibel lifestyle, whether that’s taking long walks on the beach, biking the island trails, or fishing. They also love heading out to explore the local shops and gathering at favorite neighborhood restaurants. They’re very happy that their long-standing family tradition has a permanent home right here on the Gulf.
Will Craig, Building Manager
Will Craig moved to Sanibel with his family in 1979. Following high school, Will graduated from Florida State University, worked for 3 years in Washington, D.C., then moved to Tampa where he lived for more than 20 years. His professional background prior to joining Kings Crown includes most recently being a Manager of a local Ace Hardware Store and also working for Home Depot for 15 years.
Will moved back to Sanibel 2014 to be closer to family. He has been married to his college sweetheart, Nancy, for 37 years. He and Nancy have a son, Billy, and a daughter, Lucy. They, of course, enjoy what everyone else likes about Sanibel . . . biking, fishing, and relaxing at the beach.
